LA City MOU 8/17: Protect Your Telework

Management is proposing to increase our in-person workdays from two to three.

Not only does this proposed change violate our contract, in-person work increases out of pocket costs for us for all members.

We want to stop any effort for a full restoration of in office five days a week beginning January 2027. This is why we need your help signing our petition (see below).  In order to stop proposals like these, we need ALL HANDS ON DECK which means we need to be as united as possible. Our records show that you are currently not a full-fledged SEIU Local 721 Member.   As City employees, we oppose the proposed increases for the following reasons: The increases are a violation of existing agreements.

The increases are a unilateral change to working conditions:

-Across all Bureaus, hybrid schedules have been in place for years and cannot be changed without bargaining.

-There is no operational justification: The City has not provided data to support the increased in-office days.

-Fiscal impact on employees: increasing in-office work will increase out of pocket costs on our employees who are already facing an affordability crisis, especially as gas price continue to rise.

-Impact on morale, recruitment & retention.
