-State Assembly Member Cristina Garcia

On Dec. 9, SEIU 721 LA County Superior Court Workers led Calif. State Assembly Member Cristina Garcia on a walkthrough of the Norwalk Courthouse.

Assembly member Garcia talked with workers and thanked them for educating her on the issues facing Superior courts and the public in her district.

What SEIU 721 Members Said

“The courts are so understaffed right now. I have more work and less time to do it. That’s stressful for me and the public. There are a lot of irate customers these days. People are upset because of long lines and waits for everything.”
-Mario Trasvina, CSA II

Briget-Jackson_2x80.jpg“The lines for the public are so much longer. And we don’t have the staffing to give the customer service we used to give. Things really need to change. The only way to do that is to get more funding for our Superior Courts.”
-Bridgette Jackson, CSA III

“I do my job the best I can, but it’s a challenge. Every Saturday, I have to work overtime to keep up with the huge workload. In my department alone, we are 20 people short-staffed. That’s a big disservice to the public.”
-Anna Siqueiros, CSA II

Josefina-Trejox80.jpg“Every single round of budget cuts has hurt the public. The layoffs, staffing shortages and everything else have all piled up. The people who use the courts get shortchanged and that’s not how the courts should function.”
-Josefina Trejo, CSA II
