WE DID IT! Our unified voice made $15/hr statewide happen!

On Monday, April 4, 2016, California Governor Jerry Brown, signed the nation’s first statewide $15/hr minimum wage into law, giving 5.6 million workers a raise! Our unified voice as working people made this happen!

This is how WE won $15/hr:

In 2013, FIGHT FOR $15 workers in the Golden State took our strikes to the streets.

In 2014, WE shut it down! Our Fight For $15 strikes and marches took over whole cities from L.A. to the Bay.

In 2015, WE took on the second largest city and most populous county in the US—and won! The Fight For $15 went head to head with L.A. City and L.A. County, and walked away with $15/hr for everyone.

In 2016, WE gathered enough signatures to put $15 on the ballot, forcing lawmakers to act.

On March 31, 2016, WE occupied the halls of government, and refused to leave the State Capitol until the legislature passed $15/hr for all Californians, without exception.

WE did it!

And as California goes, so goes the country.

Not a moment, but a movement.
