Frequently-Asked Questions about SEIU 721 Member Leadership Development Programs

Here are some frequently-asked questions about SEIU 721 Member Leadership Development programs.
1.    How can I sign up for training?
You can sign up for training though your worksite organizer or by calling our Member Action Center at (877) 721-4YOU.
2.    Can I take any class that I want?
We require that every stewards/leader first complete the New Steward Orientation and Grievance Handling Training before taking any additional Member Leadership Development courses.
3.    Can anyone come to training?
Courses are designed for our stewards/leaders of the union, but they are open to any member of the SEIU 721.

4.    Do I have to take time off work to come to training?

For trainings on the weekend and evenings you have to use your own time. Most LA County members who are stewards have release time for daytime training in their contracts. For stewards/leaders in locations other than LA County, you would have to use your own time.
5.    I don’t see the training that I need, what can I do?
Members are able to take courses at Los Angeles Trade Tech Labor Studies department and receive a partial reimbursement from the Union. Please call Rashina Young at (213) 368-8688 for more information.
