A coalition of Los Angeles labor unions swarmed City Hall, with hundreds of protesters calling to the mayor to “fix L.A.”

Records obtained by the I-Team show the Department of Sanitation received more than 2,200 calls to 311 over a two-year period to pick up trash near homeless encampments but failed to respond to more than half of those calls.

A coalition of labor unions led by a local branch of the SEIU has accused Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti of neglecting the city’s pressing issues while focusing on his presidential aspirations instead.

People in South LA say that the sidewalks are not up to standard – and the Fix LA Coalition, led by SEIU 721, is vowing to hold Mayor Eric Garcetti accountable.

The decision drew widespread outrage from union activists throughout the nation, including Ventura County.

Labor leaders said their members are ready to withstand the barrage. “They’re really not advocating for the employees at all—they’re advocating for unions to lose their power,” said SEIU 721 President Bob Schoonover.

KABC Eyewitness News was on hand today when members from SEIU Local 721 notified the Riverside County Board of Supervisors of their intent to strike over multiple unfair labor violations and safety concerns.

SEIU says it has filed 19 labor law violation charges against the county, including harassment of hospital staff learning self-defense during their break.

Aug. 10 was a day of action for members of Service Employees International Union (SEIU) Local 721 as workers picketed on their breaks in just under 100-degree weather at the Riverside County Social Services offices at the corner of San Jacinto Street and Oakland Avenue in Hemet.
