Bargaining Update for LA City Professionals: City Proposals Called ‘Unsustainable’

In bargaining on Wednesday, August 25, the City made economic proposals that the bargaining team estimated would have a severe impact on city professionals. “The City finally presented their ‘pie in the sky’ economic proposals,” said bargaining team member Nady Maechling of the Department of Public Works. “They are asking each employee to contribute $5,000 to $10,000 a year to allow the City to continue their unsustainable practices.”

City professionals through their elected bargaining team have pressed for controls on:
•           Private contracting out
•           Collecting debts owed to the city

The bargaining team has not backed off its initial proposals that they presented in December.  They also made progress on the language of several articles.

Meetings are scheduled for next week.
