LA County Commits to Fix LA

The LA County Regional Council Summit inspired us. Maybe it was that spectacular view high in the foot hills of Los Angeles at the Mount St. Mary’s campus? Or maybe it was the action pack day? Whatever it was the members of LA County took a moment to pause, strategize and commit themselves to Fix LA.

We discussed issues with tons of informative guest speakers. Everyone from DCFS Director Philip Browning to DPSS Director Sheryl Spiller answered our questions while Fast Food workers from the Fight for 15 campaign taught us about their strategy to  win $15 and union.
With our minds full of great brain food, we took a break for lunch and a super fun photo booth session. Check out some of the pictures from the booth and the entire day here.

After lunch we regrouped to spend some time with Sheila Kuel who wants to be our next LA County Supervisor. She inspired us to believe that a progressive majority on the LA County Board of Supervisors is possible. We just have to get out the vote.

We left the Summit feeling united and committed to making LA County a place where all people can thrive. Now it’s time to roll up our sleeves and take action. Look for your work site organizer and ask to get plugged into upcoming actions at the union. If you can take time away from work, consider supporting your brothers and sisters in LA City at their huge Fix LA October 28th day of action. See more details here.

Hope to see you at this event or another action real soon. The view is nice up on top of the mountain but the real work is here on the ground.

Let’s get busy!
