Bright Lights, Big Spending: Taking Our Message to the Festival of Lights

The Festival of Lights in Riverside is a cherished community event, uniting Riverside County residents in the cheerful goodwill of the holidays.

However, as families sipped hot chocolate, listened to music and took carriage rides, something wicked lurked in the darkness. Like the citizens of Whoville, the people of Riverside were unaware of the Grinch coming to rob them like a thief in the night.

From their mountain headquarters in Switzerland, the massive consulting firm KPMG has already taken $40 million in taxpayer money from Riverside County and is gearing up to expand their agenda of cutting vital services.

Luckily, KPMG and the Riverside County Board of Supervisors that enables them can still be stopped! Last Friday, SEIU 721 members took to the Festival of Lights to rally the community to our cause and let them know just what the board and KPMG are up to.

Armed with candy canes, cheerful illuminated signs and the facts about how our taxpayer money is being spent, we were able to engage with hundreds of Riverside County residents – many of whom were unaware of the mismanagement happening at the County Administration Center.

Let the County know that it’s time to knock off the bad spending and get back to the bargaining table with county workers. Call 951-955-1030 and tell them to get back to the table.
