A Special Message to USC Shuttle Drivers from SEIU Local 721 Vice President Simboa Wright

Dear USC Shuttle Drivers:My name is Simboa Wright, and I’m the Vice President of SEIU Local 721.

I have a special connection with all of you – I am also licensed to drive a large vehicle on our city’s congested streets.

I’ve driven a vactor truck for the City of LA’s Department of Sanitation for more than 20 years, and I have a Class B license with air brakes and tanker endorsements. I vacuum debris and clear drainage channels throughout the City of LA’s sewage system.

Our driving has this in common: It’s essential, it’s challenging, and it requires skill and experience — something our managers tend to forget. Because of that, we deserve fair pay and benefits, respect and dignity, and a voice on the job.

That’s why I’m urging you to vote YES to join SEIU Local 721 on March 23rd. You have the backing of SEIU Local 721 drivers and our more than 98,000 members across Southern California.

Being an SEIU Local 721 member has helped me achieve the American dream. As a happily married father of three, I own a home, have savings for a rainy day, and have a secure retirement. I credit much of this to my union brothers and sisters, who, over the years, have fought alongside me to win meaningful pay increases, family-sustaining benefits, and substantial bonuses — on top of better working conditions and respect on the job.

By voting YES to join SEIU Local 721, you’re putting yourself in the driver’s seat for a better future.

I hope you’ll join me in the SEIU 721 family so we can fight shoulder-to-shoulder to secure you the American dream and win the security you deserve.

Simboa Wright,
SEIU Local 721 Vice President
