Oxy’s Admin Broke the Law and Tried to Silence Us. We Won’t Let Them.

On Tues., Nov. 18, 2025, members of our Occidental College student worker bargaining team organized a protest on the quad calling out our admin’s disrespectful behavior in bargaining for our first union contract. School officials demanded our colleagues stop using bullhorns at the action and later sent disciplinary warnings to two fellow students for alleged violations of Oxy’s campus rules around protest.

The admin’s outrageous actions violated principles of free speech and expression, and they broke federal labor law — which protects our rights to engage in union activity, including holding rallies and protests. Our union has filed two Unfair Labor Practice (ULP) charges with the National Labor Relations Board over the incident.

We cannot let the admin violate our rights. Please sign our petition calling on the university to stop its union-busting!
