Those of us in the LA County workforce will never forget how hard we worked to secure a strong contract. So, we are pleased to remind everyone that our first pay raise will take effect Oct. 1 – but please note that it will be reflected on our Oct. 30 paycheck.
Here is the schedule of pay raises – and benefit enhancements – as they take effect over the life of our three-year contract:
Jan. 1, 2026
- 8 % increase in health insurance allowances
- Bereavement Leave increased from 3-days to 5-days for eligible family members
- SEIU 721 members enrolled in Choices and Options could participate in LA County’s 401(k) Savings Plan (without an employer match)
Oct. 1, 2026
- 2% COLA (Cost-Of-Living Allowance)
- $2,000 one-time bonus
Jan. 1, 2027
- 8 % increase in health insurance allowances
Oct. 1, 2027
- 5% COLA
Jan. 1, 2028
- 8 % increase in health insurance allowances
As part of our new contract, LA County also increased its annual contribution to the Dependent Care Spending Account from $6.5 million to $10 million per year. This is a key victory because our very own SEIU 721 members identified this enhancement as a top priority during our last bargaining cycle – and we at SEIU 721 are proud to deliver.
Never forget: It is through the power of our Union that these pay raises and benefits enhancements are materializing. It is NOT a hand-out. We fought for it – ALL of it!
The economy may change and the political landscape may change but one thing will never change – the importance of our Union, SEIU 721. Our power to negotiate for better compensation, benefit protections, and workplace rights is directly tied to the strength of our Union.
So, let’s keep these facts in mind as we enjoy the pay raise and the $2,000 one-time bonus that will take effect on Oct. 1 and be reflected on our Oct. 30 paychecks. We achieved this victory together – and as we say at SEIU 721, together, WE WIN!

Please remember to keep in mind the following important points:
- TAXATION: Our bonuses are a form of income. So, like all income, our bonuses will be taxed. This has always been the case with bonuses and salary increases.
- DUES: All of us pay dues as a part of our membership in SEIU 721 – it’s what gives us the power and resources to win strong contracts. 1.5% will go toward dues – investing now in the strength of our organization to prepare for the extremely serious challenges ahead of us.
