In its second bargaining proposal delivered on August 6, Ventura County continues to place the entire budget burden on cuts in services and benefits instead of considering worker proposals that would improve services and streamline costs.
“County workers are residents, taxpayers and vested in the success of Ventura. This is a critical time and we need to all get involved to save services for the public and keep our future secure.”

The County proposal would:
• Damage services by closing County operations during Christmas and Thanksgiving when need spikes
• Hurt secure retirement by suspending 401K matches and reducing VCERA retirement contributions thus stretching the system even further
• Make health insurance unaffordable for some county workers and place additional strain on health care system
• Impact skilled workforce by deferring merit increases, eliminating raises and cutting pay for some senior employees
