Nationwide, 30 million men, women, and children depend on health care coverage through the Affordable Care Act, while hundreds of thousands more are now employed as part of the workforce making sure the ACA delivers on its vision of a healthy America. 63,000 will lose their jobs in the Los Angeles area alone because the ACA is set to be defunded and repealed–beginning this month–without a plan to replace it.
Yanking away health coverage from millions of people with zero plan to replace it will create chaos: Chaos for care providers, public safety net services, and our communities. Private health costs will go up, too.The hasty decision to defund and repeal the ACA comes at way too high a price. We need care not chaos!
Steps will soon be taken to do away with America’s healthcare system and replace it with nothing! As frontline public sector workers, we will all feel the impact as the resources we once counted on disappear. We must get ahead of what’s coming by taking immediate steps to protect SEIU 721 members, as well as the families and communities we serve. Tell lawmakers not to gamble with our health!
