A Big Step Closer to Restoring Health Care in South LA

In a historic vote, the University of California Board of Regents voted unanimously Thursday to partner with Los Angeles County to reopen Martin Luther King Hospital.

“We applaud the UC Regents joining with Los Angeles County to open this essential hospital in Los Angeles,” said John Tanner, executive director of SEIU 721. “This is an important step to restoring the full range of care as soon as possible.”

Health care providers who work at the facility, which is currently a large-scale urgent care clinic, were encouraged by the news.
