Contract negotiations are taking place at a time when the health care reform bill that President Obama recently signed into law will bring much-needed revenue to community clinics starting next year.
Community health care workers speak out
With patient loads increasing — an increase of 21 percent from June 2008 to June 2009, according to the National Association of Community Health Centers — clinic employees say it’s time for clinics to commit to focus on the mission of providing quality care and services to everyone in the community.
“NEVHC needs to stop dragging its feet and come to the table with fair proposals, so we can all get back to our mission of providing quality care and services to our community,” said contract action team member Raquel Cervantes, a nutrition assistant and certified lactation educator.
“As a health care organization, NEVHC needs to be committed to improving the standard of living for its workers.” Next step:
