721 members joined with clients, families, workers, advocates, and
community leaders in the effort to defeat Prop 1E, including phone
calls to thousands of SEIU members, participation in the May 13 rally
in downtown Los Angeles, and outreach to members at worksites and on
the internet.
Ron Ruiz (right), SEIU 721 member and LA County DMH employee, spoke for mental health services at a rally on May 13: “Prop
1E on the May 19 ballot would strip more than $460 million from mental
health funding. Mental health services can’t afford any more cuts. Vote
NO on Prop 1E.”
Now that we defeated Prop 1E, let’s keep working together to transform mental health services.
