The event is 9 a.m. to 12 noon, Saturday, Mar. 19 from at our Los Angeles office, 500 S. Virgil Ave., Los Angeles, CA 90020.

We are honoring social workers as well as three important women as our “Champions of Children.” This year’s honorees are U.S. Representative Karen Bass, LAUSD Board President Monica Garcia and Professor Jacquelyn McCroskey, USC Social Work, who will be present to accept the honor in person.

Over the past two years social workers in Los Angeles County have engaged in an innovative and ambitious plan to improve the foster care system in LA County. We have taken a collaborative approach with county leadership and top management in the Department of Children and Family Services. The result has been a strategic partnership that is leading to positive changes that not only will improve the experience of children and families in the system, but enhance the working conditions for social workers. At the March 19 event we will take time to reflect on social workers’ role in reform and forecast the next year and our plans to continue to improve DCFS.
