SEIU 721 retirees truly embody their motto of being “retired and active!” December has been an eventful and inspiring month for the Retiree Committee, packed with community-focused initiatives and festive celebrations.
One of the highlights was the annual holiday party, a cherished tradition of the season. Held at the Sheraton Cerritos Hotel, the event brought members together for an evening filled with delicious food, lively music, dancing, and exciting raffle prizes. Attendees also participated in a meaningful act of giving, donating hundreds of socks for residents at the Golden Manor Retirement Center in Montebello.
After the celebration, committee members Joaquin Miramontes, Deborah Cotton Thomas, Teresa Gonzales, Vien Ky, and Keenan Sheedy personally delivered the socks to the retirement home. Residents expressed heartfelt gratitude, noting the donations would be especially useful during Southern California’s cooler
winter temperatures.
Earlier in the month, the Retiree Committee showed their unwavering solidarity by joining striking Amazon workers in the City of Industry, reinforcing their commitment to the fight for union representation and fair treatment for all workers.
With their holiday festivities and acts of solidarity, SEIU 721 retirees wrapped up the year with incredible energy and purpose. There’s no doubt they’ll continue this momentum into 2025, proving once again that retirement is just the beginning of making an even greater impact!
