Workers on the frontlines of South LA’s COVID-19 response will deliver their 10-day strike notice to Watts Health Center management this Thursday, April 1st. Their bold action comes after allegations that Watts has engaged in repeated labor law violations, including harassment and threats of employees, surveillance of union activity, and denying union staff access to frontline workers.

Elected officials, clergy, labor unions, and community members will rally on Monday, March 22 in Downtown Los Angeles in support of the unionizing efforts of the Alabama Amazon workers and calling attention to the ever growing union busting industry and culture used to suppress workers rights across the nation.

Los Angeles rideshare and delivery drivers for companies like Uber, Lyft, and Postmates are rallying at the DTLA Lyft hub to protest the inadequate response from their employers to the COVID-19 pandemic and gig companies’ refusals to abide by local safety ordinances. The protest will include a socially-distanced mobile car wash and rally, where drivers will distribute masks and cleaning supplies and sanitize their vehicles with the help of union car wash workers.

Students, community members, clergy, and labor allies will lead a car caravan through South Los Angeles to the USC Department of Public Safety (USC-DPS) to hold a press conference demanding the university take immediate steps to abolish the USC police force and reinvest those funds in expanding scholarships for low-income students.
