SEIU Local 721 is thrilled to have a respected national labor champion like Los Angeles County Supervisor Hilda Solis join us to defeat Proposition 22. Supervisor Solis understands that Prop 22 is bad policy because it would give a special pass to rideshare companies like Uber, Lyft and DoorDash and let them buy their way out of following California’s labor laws. Supervisor Solis realizes that Prop 22 would set a terrible precedent that other big companies no doubt would follow.

Media Advisory for Tues., July 21, 2020 — Amidst Skyrocketing COVID-19 Cases, Community Demands Public Health Protections

A bold new policy will be introduced at the upcoming LA County Board of Supervisors meeting to stop the spread of COVID-19 and mitigate any new outbreaks. The policy establishes worker-led public health councils in the workplace, serving as the eyes and ears of the day-to-day operations and expanding the capacity of the Public Health Department. It also allows the department to certify worker organizations, assisting public health councils with education, technical assistance, and tracking and reporting any instances of non-compliance.
