SEIU members were out in front of the cameras and mics at County Hall yesterday, talking to reporters about what building a better LA will mean for residents and employees.

Reporters caught the speakers inside the Board of Supervisors and the rally outside, where more than 2,800 LA County employees danced and cheered. Reports focused on our efforts to improve services and ensure health care for employees and their families.

“We see the effects of the economy up close and personal, because we serve the public, especially when they are in need,” SEIU 721 bargaining policy chair Linda Dent said on KPCC.

“We know how to cut corners and make efficiencies,” Recreation Services Coordiantor Lila Johnson-Crenshaw told the LA Times.

The Filipino Channel (ABS-CBN) profiled a group of health care workers who had come to the rally together, and Sing Tao Daily caught up with Chinese-speaking members in the crowd. Asian Americans employees are represented across LA County providing health care and social services to the diverse communities who rely on our public hospitals, parks and social safety net.

“Union members say they provide vital services and deserve a fair deal,” said the ABC-7 anchor.
