Riverside County Members: Act Now To Claim Furlough Compensation

Only 10 days left to file your furlough compensation claim. If your manager is refusing to sign that you were mandated to do more than 9 hours in a pay period, you should still send the filled out form to Brian McArthur in County of Riverside – Human Resource Department – P.O. Box 1569, Riverside, CA, 92502 and a copy to SEIU 721 attention Steve Matthews 4336 S.Market St., Riverside, CA, 92501 and keep a copy for your records. All claims must be submitted by December 31, 2010.

SEIU 721 has reached an agreement with the County on mandatory furlough overage compensation. In June SEIU learned that some managers were ordering Riverside County employees to furlough more than 9 hours in a pay period, which violated provisions in our Memorandum of Understanding.

If you were mandated to take more than the required amount of furlough hours there will be compensation in the form of extra vacation hours. But you must act quickly. Remember all claims must be submitted by December 31, 2010.

According to the County, a specific mailing was distributed in a payroll leaflet with the second pay warrant processed in November 2010. If you did not receive the form, please Click Here to download  or visit http://www.workforceexchange.net.

  1. Wendy Thomas has done a fantastic job for all of us with negotiations and keeping us aware of what is going on with the union and the county. I have never seen her use county mail or anything that was inappropriate. I just got a directive saying we cannot use county mail systems for anything but work related items. if the strength of our union is scaring the powers to be that much, so be it. Great job Wendy. I am saddened to hear of the harassment you have been getting. it is uncalled for and needs to be stopped. but we all know how it continues in all forms in Riverside County.
