Winning Results for SEIU 721 Endorsements

On March 5, all of the SEIU 721 endorsed candidates won their election or moved forward to the run-off.  This is a tremendous victory brought about by members having a voice, participating in phone banks and precinct walking for the endorsed candidates.
There are still 17% of the ballots to count for the City of Los Angeles election and it will be another a couple of weeks before we know for sure if two of the candidates will win outright or go to the run-off. The City Clerk has until March 26 to certify the votes.

“All our candidates have won or are still in the race and it’s important that we continue to support these candidates at a phone bank or an afternoon of precinct walking for the May election.” Simboa Wright, Waste Water Worker II
The one campaign that did not succeed was Los Angeles City Measure A (sales tax) which failed to gain the necessary support.
The run-off for LA City is on Tuesday, May 21.  Last week, SEIU 721 endorsed Wendy Greuel for Mayor and previously endorsed Nury Martinez for CD 6 which will also be on the May 21 ballot.
