If you didn’t receive a call it might mean we don’t have your correct personal phone number in our system. We don’t want you to miss future calls so please call the Member Connection 1-877- 721-4YOU and tell them you’d like to update your phone number right away!

Next Steps:

Make the call!

It will take only a couple of minutes of your day, but it will have a huge impact on the lives of millions.

TUESDAY January 10, 2017 Call 866-426-2631

The message: “The Affordable Care Act should not be repealed without a plan to keep and improve healthcare, including the Medi-Cal that working families depend on. We want care – NOT chaos!”

If they ask you the reason why share your story. Maybe you know a friend or a family member who got coverage and you don’t want them to lose it. Maybe you work in healthcare – and you’ve seen with your own eyes just how devastating the long hours of waiting in the ER can be for both patients and for workers.

Whatever your reason – its time to let your member of Congress know!

Tomorrow, Tuesday January 10th we want to send a STRONG and UNITED MESSAGE! Thousands of public workers and health care workers across the U.S. will be calling Congress to overwhelm and shut the phone system down.

It will take only a couple of minutes of your day, but it will have a huge impact on the lives of millions.

Highlights from our TeletownHall

The new Congress has already taken steps to REPEAL the Affordable Care Act, also known as Obamacare.

If the Affordable Care Act is repealed and replaced with NOTHING or if portions of it are suddenly taken away the jobs of hundreds of SEIU Local 721 members will be on the line and thousands more will be impacted. This is NOT an exaggeration. In the Los Angeles region alone – 63,000 new jobs were created because of the Affordable Care Act.

And the impact is not just for health care providers either. Hundreds of social services jobs were created through ACA funding. If the Affordable Care Act gets repealed and replaced with NOTHING – then the federal funding for ALL of those jobs will be GONE. This will affect all of California, including our Inland and Ventura regions.

Repealing the ACA will also mean the END of health insurance coverage for 30 MILLION Americans. 6 million of these patients live here in California. Just because a group of politicians decide to take health coverage away doesn’t mean populations are suddenly healthy, on the contrary- people without insurance still need health care.

So that means we’ll go back to the BAD old days. 16 HOUR wait times in the ER will be a daily fact of life – both for the workers – and for patients, who will simply suffer MORE. That means OUR MEMBERS will be expected to do MORE with LESS.

We all know that the Affordable Care Act is not perfect, and we should definitely look at ways to improve and tighten the way it works on the ground. BUT any hasty decisions to take it all away or rip it apart without thinking through the consequences are UNACCEPTABLE – and we CAN’T let them happen.

The only way to stop Washington from experimenting with the health and jobs of millions- is to ORGANIZE.

Our Union has faced bad odds before – and WON. I know that we have some of the most dedicated public workers anywhere.  I know we can win if we stand strong and stick TOGETHER.

Now Make the call!
