LA County Workers Make Anti-Union Billionaires Cry

Anti-worker billionaires should be celebrating. Their bought-and-paid for politicians and flunkies are decimating the federal workforce and slashing funding for essential services.

Instead, they’re crying because LA County SEIU 721 members are showing that working people still have the power to win what we deserve.

Within days of SEIU 721 members’ win on a common table Tentative Agreement with LA County, anti-union dark money groups are trying to tear it down.

The California Policy Center — backed by anti-union billionaire donors like Robert Mercer, the Koch network, and the DeVos family — is calling the raises and bonuses in our hard-fought agreement “reckless” and is attacking public workers as undeserving and “tone deaf.”

Let’s be clear: We didn’t take anything — we earned it.

$7,000 in bonuses
$5,000 within 45 days of ratification
$2,000 in the second year
•7% COLAs
•24% increase in healthcare contributions over 3 years
•Blocked language allowing the County to cut our raises
•Stronger union and grievance rights

These wins are real — and so is the backlash. The County says there’s “nothing left” for our Bargaining Unit tables, and billionaire-funded critics are trying to turn the public against us.

These dark money groups have been whining and crying (and spending millions) for decades to try to silence us. It hasn’t worked so far and it’s not going to work now.

We’re continuing to fight at the individual unit tables for a fair deal and we know that the community has our back – regardless of what the oligarchs have to say.

We’re currently phone banking all LA County SEIU 721 members to update them on our landmark tentative agreement and ongoing negotiations – keep an eye out for our call.
