After weeks of voting, the results are finally in!
SEIU 721 County of Ventura members voted in favor of an ULP strike, with a resounding 98% voting YES.
We don’t want to go on strike; we want the County to follow the law and bargain in good faith to win a strong contract.
Make no mistake, our resounding YES vote is sending a strong message to county negotiators and the Board of Supervisors.
Our bargaining team will determine if we need to go on strike.
For now, it’s important we continue to be informed and stay active.
BARGAINING UPDATE
Our bargaining team went to the bargaining table with County negotiators on November 4th, 5th and 6th. And we’ll be demanding to meet even more intensively.
There was some movement from management on general salary increases and now the County offer is at:
- Year 1 – 3.5%
- Year 2 – 3%
- Year 3 – 3%
We are still bargaining over market equity adjustments. We want to make sure members are being paid true market rate.
We won strong language on the Patient Sitter policy. Employees assigned as a patient sitter will be assigned for no more than half of their shift. If the situation becomes unsafe, they can remove themselves from the situation, notify the charge nurse and call a code grey without risk of discipline.
