Our Proposals: What We’re Fighting For

Since joining SEIU Local 721 in summer 2024, Oxy student workers have been hard at work bargaining with Occidental College for a strong union contract. Unfortunately, the college has met us with union-busting tactics and disrespectful proposals that do nothing to change the status quo.

Among many other workplace proposals, our core demands at the bargaining table are:

• Pay of 4% above minimum wage.
• Just cause protections from unfair discipline.
• The right to lawful free speech and peaceful protest on campus.

These demands are reasonable and fair. There is no reason why the administration cannot meet them and live up to its commitments to fostering a culture of care for all students, staff, and campus faculty.
