Occidental College’s admin has disrespected student workers in negotiations for a union contract from day one and has broken labor law to try and silence our voices. Here’s what they’ve proposed in bargaining:
- No proposed increase in pay after over a year and a half at the bargaining table.
- No just cause protections from unfair discipline or termination.
- An anti-union “right to work” clause that attempts to reduce the size of our unit and creates onerous requirements for keeping the unit strong.
It’s clear to us that Oxy wants to maintain the status quo. We can’t let them.
Our demands for our union contract are reasonable and fair. There is no reason why the administration cannot meet them and live up to its commitments to fostering a culture of care for all students, staff, and campus faculty.
