An historic day of action at the LA County Board of Supervisors came to a close this evening with the announcement that children’s social workers and eligibility workers represented by SEIU 721 will resume negotiations with LA County management. The request to resume bargaining came through a mediator enlisted by the County.

On Nov. 19, SEIU 721 members at two Ventura County hospitals finally got some positive news from management–the County will address the staff shortage issue.

City of Oxnard SEIU Local 721 members voted overwhelmingly to ratify the tentative agreement with the City of Oxnard on Wednesday, November 6, 2013.
This year has been a challenging one at SEIU Local 721. Currently a lot of our leadership is focused on securing a fair contract with Los Angeles County. Therefore, in consideration of everyone’s hard work and to give members and opportunity to submit a nomination petition for the LA County and LA/OC Cities Regional Council, we are extending the petition deadline sixty (60) days to December 17, 2013.
On Wednesday, Oct. 30, SEIU 721 City of Riverside General Unit members voted to approve the tentative agreement that was reached by the bargaining team with City management. The tentative agreement is expected to go before the City Council for approval in December. The three year contract, which covers the General Unit, includes increases in salaries and employer contribution to healthcare.
The SEIU 721 Oxnard Harbor District bargaining team reached a tentative agreement with the District. The tentative agreement includes wage and benefit increases. The bargaining team reached the tentative agreement on Wednesday, October 16 and will be voting on whether to ratify the contract Wednesday, October 30.

SEIU Local 721 members in the City of Oxnard are taking things to the street as they stand up for a fair contract. Members came out to the Rally on Wheels event at the Housing department in La Colonia and also ran an informational picket in front of the Oxnard Main Library on October 8, 2013.
