If the County wants to be the “employer of choice,” then it needs to provide competitive wages to retain its quality workforce that so many in our communities depend on. The Community is tired of the endless lines at County facilities, and workers are also tired of the insane workload and not being able to provide services in a timely manner for every person that walks through County doors.

On April 15, we called on the Board of Supervisors to strengthen public services and end poverty wages. The wages working families are being paid are completely out of balance with what people need to survive.

The LA County Regional Council Summit inspired us. Maybe it was that spectacular view high in the foot hills of Los Angeles at the Mount St. Mary’s campus? Or maybe it was the action pack day? Whatever it was the members of LA County took a moment to pause, strategize and commit themselves to Fix LA.




Were You Disciplined During the LA County Strike?

On March 5, SEIU 721 resolved their dispute over unfair labor practices charges during the strike with LA County. The County stated that all union members have the right to participate in concerted, collective activities, including the types of activities engaged in during the contract campaign.

LA County members can cast ratification ballots from January 27 to February 12, 2014.
