Clinica Romero Workers Ratify Contract That Protects Clients, Staff

Clinica-Romero-Bargaining-Team-2011.jpgOn Friday, December 17, SEIU 721 members at Clinica Oscar Romero voted overwhelmingly to ratify a one-year contract that will lead to stronger patient care.

“With the contract now in effect, SEIU Local 721 members and management at Clinica Oscar Romero can focus on working together to provide the best possible care and services to our patients and their families, and to advocating for funding and resources for our clinic.” – SEIU 721 bargaining team (pictured above)

The contract includes:

  • A 4% salary raise
  • Fully-paid health insurance coverage for all family members
  • New union language providing two union stewards at each site
  • An improved grievance procedure
  • An agreement to meet within 90 days and establish market-based rates for bargaining unit employees
  • Four-hour pay for annual physicals

In addition, collaboration between the union and management has also resulted in the ETP Project that first established a joint partnership by SEIU and Clinica Romero in 2008. The project provided employee/employer quality improvement trainings which now strengthened Clinica’s quality patient focus.

We start 2011 with great trust and support for a joint vision that puts our patients’ health care first so we can deliver a healthier future for all. That will create broader opportunities for our patients, workers and Clinica Romero.
