JIMEE Committee Report – May 24, 2012

Currently we let projects for construction and on occasion don’t use all of our available institutional knowledge to review and take a hard look at plans before we release them for bidding.  Using design and construction team members who have performed similar jobs previously, we can look at ways to lessen costly change orders and to provide useful feedback on how to build projects as efficiently as possible.  All members of the JIMEE Committee thought this suggestion of using a peer review team had merit and could achieve a cost savings. Please keep the good ideas flowing.
Another recommendation we discussed to revive the Employee Incentive Program for rewarding cost savings presented by city workers. Do you think rewarding city employees with monetary compensation will increase the flow of cost-saving recommendations?  Write to me at the link below and let me know.
