Riverside City Members Collect Food and Toy Donations at Holiday Party

SEIU_Riv_City_Holiday_Toy_2012_595p.jpgSEIU 721 Inland Area members, led by the Riverside City Chapter, rallied together to help needy Riverside families by holding a canned food and toy drive that culminated with a joint union Holiday Barbecue on Saturday, Dec. 4, at Fairmount Park.
Holiday_IE_E_Barboza_80x80.jpg“Once again Riverside City public workers from SEIU 721, IBEW 47 and RPOA have come together to collect food and toys for the needy in our community. Not only do we work in the city, but many of us live here and we all feel it is important to give back to our community.” – Enrique Barboza, RPU field service assistant and Riverside City chapter 2nd vice president.
Kids played in a bouncy house, took pictures with Santa, and received hugs from Riverside PD’s Safety Fox. IBEW 47 had the grill going under threatening skies, but the weather held as members and their children enjoyed a day in the park.

The donated food and toys will be delivered to Olive Crest, an organization serving the Inland Empire that is dedicated to preventing child abuse, treating and educating at-risk children and preserving families.
