During months of negotiations the SEIU 721 Riverside County bargaining team has remained focused on ensuring members, and the public they serve, are not harmed any further following two consecutive years of reductions in wages, benefits, working hours, and service levels.Workers have spoken out at the Board of Supervisors meetings and the bargaining table to tell about the impact these cuts have had on their lives and the local economy.
“The county keeps changing the amount of cost savings they are seeking from us. It’s like playing bargaining bingo where they keep calling out different numbers until they can get us to yell BINGO. As a team we have a duty to make informed decisions based on real numbers to get to a fair contract for our members.”

The 721 team acknowledges there are financial difficulties in the county; however, it is time for county management to provide real numbers on the county’s financial status and the cost savings needed from members to justify the magnitude of cuts they are seeking. Since both teams have finished presenting and responding to each others initial proposals, now isn’t the time for the county team to continue playing bargaining BINGO with members’ future.
