Labor Day 2015: Marching for All Families
On Labor Day hundreds of SEIU 721 members, families and community allies, marched in Los Angeles and Santa Barbara to celebrate all that is good and strong about being in a union. Other groups held picnics and rallies in celebration of the work we have achieved, and the challenges we have before us.

San Bernardino County Professional Unit Begins Bargaining
The SEIU 721 San Bernardino County Professional Unit bargaining team has been preparing for bargaining by attending trainings and going through contract proposals over the past few months. The team recently met with management to establish ground rules and will present the County with initial proposals at the next session, scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 27.
San Bernardino Superior Court Bargaining Begins
The SEIU 721 bargaining team for the San Bernardino County Superior Court Reporters and Court Support Services unit have been going line-by-line through the current contract to strengthen future contract language. The team presented non-economic issues during last week’s bargaining.
Riverside County Per Diem Unit Ratifies First Contract
The SEIU 721 Riverside County Per Diem bargaining unit members voted unanimously to accept the tentative agreement reached with management.
Per Diem workers are set to receive raises and other economic incentives and union rights, pending approval from the Board of Supervisors at their next meeting.
Voting Rights Act Turns 50; More Work To Be Done

Whittier College Adjuncts Win First Union Contract
SEIU Local 721 Adjuncts at Whittier College just ratified their first union contract.
Riverside County Per Diem Workers to Vote on First Contract
The SEIU 721 Riverside County Per Diem bargaining team has reached a tentative agreement with management. If ratified, Riverside County Per Diem bargaining unit members will receive raises and other economic incentives, union rights and grievance procedures, in this, their first contract. Ballots must be received by 5 p.m. on Aug. 5 to be counted.
SEIU 721 Members In the Tri-Counties Tell ALEC To Stop The Assault On Working People
SEIU 721 members, retirees and community activists from the Tri-Counties region went down to San Diego to protest the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC) meeting on July 22. The group participated in the actions along with other labor allies in the Tri-Counties Central Labor Council. The bus load of activists left from Camarillo and also included UDW AFSCME members who came all the way down from Santa Maria on the Central Coast.
