Making the Difference: From the June Primary to the November General Election!

The way we win elections is by talking with voters. And with over 500 shifts as volunteers in consistent door knocking canvasses and marathon phone-banks, SEIU 721 helped make the difference for our endorsed candidates by running a winning member-to-member voter contact, education and GOTV operation!

One dozen of our State Senate, State Assembly, and County Supervisorial endorsed candidates won over 50% of the vote in the June Primary, and 35 State Senate, State Assembly, County Supervisorial, and Judicial candidates finished in the top two of their races and will appear on the November General Election ballot.

Our members, as active participants in our Local, SEIU California State Council, and SEIU International Endorsement processes, endorsed Hillary Clinton for President, and Kamala Harris for US Senate, both of whom are looking to make history in November, as the first woman to make it to the White House, and the first African American and South Asian woman to represent California in the US Capitol. In addition to helping both of these immensely qualified women shatter our country’s highest glass ceilings, we will work to bring champions for working families to the US House of Representatives, so that our Congress can stop posturing, and start doing We The People’s business!

Although unsuccessful in their bids for office, we would like to thank Darren Parker, and Brian Urias for waging courageous campaigns for State Assembly seats in extremely competitive Districts.

One week after the June 7 Primary Election, there are still over 2 million ballots yet to be counted in the Golden State. If there are any changes or updates to the results, we will share them with you. That said, the November General Election will be here before we know it, and that’s why it is so vital to turn our attention toward the task of making sure that voters are registered, educated, and turn out for all of our endorsed candidates, not just those running for national or statewide office.

Cast your vote for those who stand with us and with our families, and reach out to others to do the same!

Imagine the powerful impact of our collective vote as Union members combined: We are stronger together. Our voices are louder together. We are unstoppable!
