On December 15, 2016, SEIU Local 721 filed a group grievance on behalf of Hemet Clinic care professionals against Riverside County to implement proper safety measures within 15 days of the filing. The legal filing cites County employees’ growing fear of being fatally attacked while on the job, and the serious need to better protect the patients they serve.
We the frontline staff at Riverside County’s Hemet Clinic are taking a stand to cure the safety crisis that’s reached epic proportions at our facility.
Today at 12PM Pacific Time, SEIU Local 721 offices throughout Southern California will observe a one-minute moment of silence in honor of all the brothers and sisters we lost. We ask SEIU members and sister locals across the nation to join us in a moment of silence, remembering and honoring our union brothers and sisters.
We will continue to fight – at our worksites and at the table – for real investment to restore and strengthen County services. United, we will continue to champion fair wages and workplace safety for all County members.
The new contract includes $1,500 in bonuses by July 1, 2017, raises of between 6% -15% during the life of the contract, new paid holidays, and an increase in employer contributions for healthcare over the first year of the contract
The newly ratified 2016-2020 contract covers over Riverside City workers who were negotiating with the City since the Spring and were working without a contract since July 1st.
It’s in our hands to champion a contract that guarantees living wages for all, prioritizes the safety and wellbeing of all residents and frontline workers, and restores public services to the highest levels.
