At a lively March 25 rally in front of the Bank of NY Mellon in Los Angeles, the Fix LA Coalition unveiled a groundbreaking research report, entitled “No Small Fees: LA Spends More on Wall Street than Our Streets,” revealing that Wall Street charges the City of Los Angeles more than $200 million in fees.
Scholarships Available for Children of Riverside County Members
SEIU 721 and the County of Riverside have once again come together to offer scholarship awards to legal dependents of SEIU 721 members who are Riverside County employees. Awards range from $500 to $5,000. Application deadline is Friday, May 16, 2014.
VRSD Members Win New Contract
SEIU Local 721 members at the Ventura Regional Sanitation District (VRSD) voted to approve the Tentative Agreement on February 26, 2014. The VRSD board voted to approve the Memorandum of Understanding on March 6.

SEIU 721 Members Earn a Living Wage at St. John’s
On March 13, St. John’s Well Child and Family Center and SEIU 721 announced a groundbreaking collective bargaining agreement that will provide a living wage of $15 an hour to front-line healthcare workers providing care in some of South Los Angeles’ poorest communities. Council Member Curren Price Jr. and Supervisor Mark Ridley-Thomas also attended the event to show their support and share their hope that more workers in Los Angles start making a living wage.
