On January 10th, members spoke up at the Board of Supervisors meeting and advocated for a vital set of common good proposals aimed at lifting up ALL of Ventura County.

SEIU Local 721 is very saddened to learn of the passing of Riverside County Supervisor John J. Benoit, who died on Dec. 26 at the age of 64 due to pancreatic cancer. He was a life-long Republican who understood that working hand-in-hand with unions critical to maintaining a strong public sector workforce and to supporting the very public services that union members provide.
So that everyone may spend time with family, friends and loved ones, all SEIU Local 721 offices will close at 1 p.m. on Friday, December 30, 2016 and will reopen the morning of Tuesday, January 3, 2017. Happy New Year!
Dozens of Behavioral Health Specialists, Clinical Therapists, and other care professionals gave insight into the on-going and troubling number of violent incidents that have taken place on the clinic’s premises. One by one they scribbled on a giant board their solutions to the safety crisis, solutions that ranged from fencing the employee parking to better-trained security on the County’s clinics premises.
On December 15, 2016, SEIU Local 721 filed a group grievance on behalf of Hemet Clinic care professionals against Riverside County to implement proper safety measures within 15 days of the filing. The legal filing cites County employees’ growing fear of being fatally attacked while on the job, and the serious need to better protect the patients they serve.
Congratulations! SEIU Local 721 members voted overwhelmingly by a 85% YES vote to ratify the tentative agreement with the County of Ventura!
